Happy Thanksgiving! It was a beautiful long-weekend to spend with family and friends and also a time to take advantage of the crisp air and fall activity. My family spent time celebrating the holiday hosting thanksgiving in our new home and also getting together with friends and family and discovering the many paths available to walk our dog. We felt lucky to be in Calgary weekend and hope that everyone had a chance to relax and rejuvenate for our upcoming week of learning and conversations.

Town Hall Meeting
On Thursday, October 10, in recognition of the upcoming Municipal Election Day, we hosted a Town Hall Meeting at Bishop Pinkham. Through Youth Central, a not-for-profit organization that encourages youth participation, all 3 of the Ward 11 candidates were invited to speak to our students and answer questions related to current issues in the upcoming election. Thanks to Brian Pincott, James Maxim and Wayne Frisch who were all able to participate in our forum with the Grade 6 students who had many questions for the candidates. Thanks to Mme Sheena and Srta. Gilbertson for coordinating this debate!

Panther Pride
Girls: We would like to congratulate the girls’ team who placed first in our final playoffs last Tuesday. Even through the rain, wind and cold, the girls managed to stay positive and defeat the fierce competition at A.E. Cross last Tuesday. Thanks also to the parents, who provided shelter, hot chocolate, goodies and cheer during the breaks! A final mention to the coaches; Ms J. Tuttle and Mme A. MacPhee who were fabulous mentors this year – well done.
Boys: We would also like to congratulate the boys and our coaches M. M. Palkovits and Mr. A. Menjivar for another amazing season. Fortunately, the boys had much better weather than the girls and celebrated the finale of the season in the sun. We were very proud of our Panthers and were also impressed how they maintained such a cool demeanor under the pressure of last-minute shoot-outs…wow

Thank you to all of our participants who ran in the final race at Riverpark last Wednesday. We had many of our participants finish in the top rankings at the race and were also very proud of the number of runners from Bishop Pinkham. We would also like to give a special mention to our coaches Mme. Somers, M. Boivin and our photographer, Mr. Zipfel
