Happy Monday to everyone! This week we are looking forward to our School Council meeting and the official start to the basketball season! As always, should anyone have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
I read an interesting article recently about the increase in enrollment in French Immersion in Alberta. It's amazing that for the last 14 years, there has been a steady increase in student registration. Please read below for more details:

Accountability Pillar – Grade 7 Community
As an annual check-up on the education system, the Accountability Pillar provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success.
From January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey. In January, parents of students in grades 4, 7 and 10 will receive a survey from Alberta Education. In February, students in grades 4, 7 and 10 and all teachers will be completing their surveys online at school.
All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with the school. Last year, we only had 32 parents respond. Parent participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving, so we encourage all Grade 7 parents to complete it.

HomeLogic
As our report cards are approaching, we would like to remind parents to be reviewing their child’s current year attendance records, timetable, marks history, as well as the demographic information. This can be done through HomeLogic. We have also requested to have a shortcut icon uploaded to our Bishop Pinkham website.
Please note that we only call home regularly to verify the unexcused absences for Grades 5 and 6 students. Parents should also be confirming that their child’s attendance is accurate on the HomeLogic website.

Beginning on Monday January 19 – Friday January 23, all students in the Spanish Bilingual Program will work with a Spanish artist-in-residence and will participate in a series of workshops that focus on storytelling, listening and writing music and a celebration of the songs in a fiesta at the end of the week. Communication
- e-mail
We are using e-mail more now to provide directly relevant information to BP families. Most teachers use e-mail as their primary communication tool with parents. Staff e-mail addresses are found on our webpage at: staff contact list. Send a note to [email protected] with your child's name and we will make sure that your address is added to our records.
social media
We are continuing to increase our use of the school Facebook page and Twitter accounts. If you 'like' our Facebook page at bit.ly/bishoppinkhamfacebook, daily updates will find their way into your News Feed. Following @bpbulletin will provide you with daily updates, as well.
school webpage
The webpage at cbe.ab.ca/b645 will continue to contain much of the important information for parents, including calendars and bus information. We will try to keep it as updated as possible with the information it contains.
